Fans love it. League officials frown on it. Referees absolutely hate it.
No, we’re not talking about Deal Or No Deal although I’d be willing to bet most referees do hate that show.
We’re talking about the dreaded line brawl. For those of you who might know it by another name, a line brawl occurs when all 10 skaters on the ice drop their gloves and start to tango. A full-out line brawl occurs when even the goalies square off.
One of the most recent — and well-publicized — examples of a full-out line brawl happened this past 22 February between the Ottawa Senators and the Buffalo Sabres.
