hat is the NHL?

OK, for those of you who forgot, the National Hockey League is the top professional hockey league that tried to commit suicide by letting greed cancel the entire past season. Now that sanity has returned, the NHL, like MLB in 1995, is trying to win back the fans. One of the ways they will attempt to do so is by instituting a variety of rules that are aimed at increasing scoring.

In Part II, I will explore closely how that will affect us amateurs. For now, let's look closer at what the NHL is doing.

This time, we will stop obstruction

For the past 10 years, perhaps longer, the NHL has become a very boring league to watch. The stars have been held, hooked, interfered with; you name it, if there was a way to slow down the game, teams were doing it.
