Just for women
The IIHF rule #600 under "Specific rules for Women" states, "Full face masks, which meet international standards, shall be worn by all women ice hockey players."
Men only have to wear a half face if they were born after 31 December 1974. An old guy like myself can do without one completely. What makes me different from a player born in 1980, or a female player born in the same year as myself? Are their facial features more important than mine? I don’t think so. Well not to me anyway!
